Gravel Group Ride - Maple Sally!

Gravel Group Ride - Maple Sally

Join us on June 27th, 2021 for a group gravel ride on Maple Sally.

Wheels roll at 10:00 am. If you're not there, you're not there. :) Plan to arrive early to give yourself plenty of time to park, get ready, check air pressure, etc.

The route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/36505863 (We strongly recommend loading the map/route file in your GPS or cycling computer.) There is limited to no cell service in this area.

Mileage: ~33 mi
Climb: ~3300 ft
We anticipate the ride to take 4 hours including breaks.

Local weather: https://www.wunderground.com/weather/us/nc/morganton

Meeting/Parking location

Brown Mountain Beach Rd and Adako Rd 15-20 minutes N of Morganton, NC, and west of Lenoir, NC.

The parking situation is roadside only. If the spots are full around this coordinate, just continue north on Brown Mountain Beach Rd until you see a suitable place to pull over and park. Then just ride your bike down to the ride start coordinates. (Be sure you don't park in areas designated with no parking signs and be sure your vehicle is completely off the road. They will write tickets!)

Pace

#partypace and out to have a good ride with friends, not chase KOMs! This route is best suited for intermediate and above cyclists with at least a moderate base fitness level. We will stop periodically to regroup, rest, etc. as needed.

What to bring

You'll need plenty of water, some food, and a basic bicycle repair kit including a tube that fits your wheels. Check the weather and pack extra clothes as needed - weather in the mountains can change quickly.

There are no stores on this route for a resupply! Be sure you carry enough water and food for your needs in the given weather conditions. There are a few places you can filter water if needed.

If you have questions, give us a call at the shop at (877) 574-0656

Inclement Weather Policy

If we are experiencing inclement weather on the day of the ride, the ride will be canceled with no rain date. If the ride is canceled, we will post it on our Facebook and Twitter feeds.
